Overview of selection of hydraulic oil
If the hydraulic system is compared to the human torso, then hydraulic oil is equivalent to human blood. In the hydraulic system, the hydraulic oil plays the role of energy transmission, system lubrication, anti-corrosion, rust prevention, and cooling. Whether the hydraulic system can work effectively depends on everything. The type and viscosity of selected hydraulic oil are closely related. Therefore, it is very necessary to understand the performance of hydraulic oil and select it correctly.

1. Hydraulic oil code, composition and characteristics:

HL general purpose machine oil, refined mineral lubricating oil with anti-rust and anti-oxidation properties

HM anti-wear hydraulic oil, refined mineral lubricating oil with anti-rust, anti-oxidation and anti-wear properties

HV low temperature hydraulic oil, refined mineral lubricating oil with anti-rust, anti-oxidation and anti-wear properties, plus tackifier

Second, the choice of hydraulic oil varieties

1. Choose according to the working pressure of the hydraulic system. Different working pressures have different requirements for the quality of hydraulic oil. The increase in system working pressure requires that the hydraulic oil's anti-wear, anti-oxidation, anti-foaming, anti-emulsification and hydrolytic stability properties should also be improved. At the same time, in order to prevent leakage caused by the increase in pressure, the viscosity of the hydraulic oil should be increased accordingly; on the contrary, choose a low-viscosity hydraulic oil 。

2. Choose according to the ambient temperature. For machinery with high ambient temperature or close to the heat source, oils with high viscosity and temperature (the viscosity of the oil changes with temperature) or flame-retardant oils should be preferred. In occasions with harsh working conditions, in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the system, oils with good viscosity-temperature characteristics, thermal stability, lubricity, and corrosion resistance should be selected.

3. Choose according to the sealing material. The seal material of the hydraulic device is compatible with the oil used in the system, otherwise the seal will expand, contract, corrode, dissolve, etc., which will cause the system performance to decline, such as HM anti-wear hydraulic oil and natural rubber, butyl rubber , Ethylene rubber, silicone rubber, etc. The compatibility is poor, which should be paid attention to in actual use.

Three selection of hydraulic oil viscosity

Choose the right viscosity hydraulic oil. High-temperature and high-pressure hydraulic oils should be selected for higher-viscosity hydraulic oils to obtain better lubricity. On the contrary, for low-temperature and low-pressure systems, hydraulic oils with lower viscosity should be used to reduce energy consumption. Specifically, if the viscosity is too high, it is beneficial to lubricity, but it increases the resistance and pressure loss of the system, resulting in increased power loss, oil temperature rise, hydraulic operation instability, noise, etc.; too high viscosity will also cause the pump It is difficult to suck oil when starting at low temperature, and even the oil supply is interrupted when starting at low temperature, causing equipment failure. On the contrary, when the viscosity of the hydraulic system is too low, it will increase the internal and external leakage of the hydraulic equipment, and the working pressure of the hydraulic system will be unstable or the pressure will drop.
